What information do I need to provide to apply for a critical illness policy?

The insurance company’s application form asks questions regarding your age, sex, current state of health, occupation, hobbies etc to enable the insurance company to assess the degree of risk you represent. If they are satisfied with their enquiries they will accept you on ‘Standard terms’. This means that the premium initially quoted will stand.

If they feel that your background represents an ‘above average’ risk they may offer you insurance but at a higher premium. Sometimes they may offer you the alternative of insuring yourself for a lower amount of cover. In rare situations they will refuse to insure you.
