What is “Total and Permanent Disability”?

Many critical illness and Life Insurance policies insure you for “Total and Permanent Disability” although sometimes it is an optional extra.

Total and Permanent Disability means that if you suffer from any illness, condition or accident that totally and permanently prevents you from working, then you have a claim.

Before an insurance company will pay a Total and Permanent Disability { loans } claim they'll need to know that you are too ill to ever work again. But you have to decide how you want the insurer to define being “out of work”. That is why, before we can quote, you need to make your mind up what type of employment cover you require. There are three options:

Conditions that prevent you from following:

  • Your own existing occupation. This is the most expensive option
  • Any employment to which you are suited. This is the medium-priced option
  • You’re not fit to do any work of any kind. This is the cheapest option

If you want to discuss these options before you choose, then talk to the Critical Illness Adviser from ClickLife when he/she phones you.
